  • Overview

    The Assistant Portfolio Manager will provide substantive support to senior leadership in the management of the firm’s open-ended real estate portfolio.  The APM will oversee critical work streams, and participate in the evaluation and development of portfolio diagnostic tools, leveraged to drive asset-level initiatives designed to drive investment performance.   

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Serve as a thought-partner to the Allegiance Fund’s Portfolio Manager, helping to shape the portfolio strategies, diagnostic frameworks and procedures in order to drive investment performance.
    • Prepare annual portfolio strategy and semi-annual portfolio updates for the ASB investment committee.
    • Participate in the development of quarterly presentations summarizing key portfolio developments, performance drivers and market/economic conditions to fund investors and investment consultants working on behalf of pension fund LPs
    • Manage the Fund’s Sustainability/ESG platform, overseeing the completion of ESG initiatives including implementation of energy management systems, evaluation of investment-level diagnostics, execution of property-level certifications, GRESB submission and performance, and oversight of the firm’s third-party sustainability consultant.
    • Advance the development of portfolio analysis frameworks used to evaluate asset-class specific KPIs around operating results including expense analysis, vacancy reporting, prospective tenant activity, capital and return analysis, market leasing assumptions vs. actual etc. 
    • Guide junior members of the portfolio team and participate in the acquisition, structuring and management of new information datasets required for advanced portfolio reporting.
    • Meet with members of the asset management team to discuss asset operations and outline key action items, milestones and objectives for specific investments.
    • Manage the firm’s master insurance program and serve as main contact to the firm’s third-party insurance consultant, IBC.
    • Provide analytical insight and participate in the development of market research tools and frameworks designed to drive investment strategy as time provides.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Superior time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines
    • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
    • High technical aptitude
    • Strong writing skills

     

    EXPERIENCE:

    • 5+ years of work experience in real estate investment

     

    EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

    • Masters in Business Administration preferred
    • CFA preferred
